07/08/2025 Played in Ketchum

Today we rode our bikes the opposite direction as yesterday into Ketchum, ID. Visited the cemetery where Ernest Hemingway is buried. Had lunch at Grumpys which is a local burger joint and it was great. Back to camp and for the evening we took the scooter back to Ketchum for a Grateful Dead tribute band concert in the park. The band was so good and everyone was having a really good time (good vibe).

Great day except someone stole my plant😠

07/07/25 Bike ride today

27 mile bike ride today from our camp to Bellevue, Idaho. Did some plane spotting at Friedmam Memorial airport  (Sun Valley). Had an outdoor lunch in Bellevue and back to camp. Didn’t get back til late afternoon and the weather was warm. Mornings are chilly in the 50’s.

My plant is trying to make a comeback

07/06/25 Provo, Utah to Ketchum, (Sun Valley) Idaho

Woke up early and drove like 333 miles. Nothing much happened, except the wind kept me on my toes ’cause it was rocking the RV. I was beat when we got here, so I was happy to be done driving. Found our spot for the week, then we scootered into town for food and water. Back to the campsite for dinner and drinks. There’s a potted plant in our campsite that’s dying, so I’m gonna try to save it this week ( I’m nice like that). I’ll post pics every day to see if we are making progress. If I was the plant I would want someone else looking out for me but it really has no other choice at this point.

We’re gonna bike the trails tomorrow. Pics are attached.

07/05/25 Hanging out in Provo Utah

This post is a day late but yesterday we just hung out in Provo Utah. Took the scooter to the Farmers Market and got some produce, homemade sourdough bread and some steaks. Had a great evening meal, relaxed and drank some red wine. Ketchum, Idaho Sunday.

07/04/25 On the road again. Page, AZ to Provo, UT

We hit the road again around 7:30 this morning, and it was a good travel day. We’re at Lakeside RV park in Provo, UT. Had some motorhome problems when we got here, but we figured them out and fixed them pretty quick. The campsite is nice, and we’ll stay here until Sunday before heading to Idaho. Here are some pics from today. Happy 4th!!

On the road to Idaho

Happy 4th, everyone! We’re on the road to Sun Valley, Idaho. It’s not a real bike tour, but we’re gonna try to bike a bit on the Wood River Trail from Ketchum, ID. Today, we ended up in Page, AZ, and we’re crashing at the Roam Horseshow Bend RV park, which has awesome views. Tomorrow’s gonna be a long drive up to Provo, Utah. Some pics of our day………

Day 13 September 18th, 2024. Padrón, Spain to Santiago de Compostella, Spain. 16.6 miles 33,152 steps

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”. Dr. Seuss

We have arrived!!

Cathedral Santiago de Compostella

After walking 13 days and 186.2 miles, 396,583 steps (456,718 including walking to restaurants, etc.) we have made it to Santiago de Compostella.

It has been a great journey and I think we each took away something different from doing this.

Between us we had tired feet, sore backs, blisters and illness but we pressed on and have arrived.

This final day started out early in the dark as we wanted to arrive at the Cathedral early so we could hang out and we also had to go to the official Pilgrim office to get our certificate of completion. It was a good day and a good trip. The weather cooperated the entire time so we are very grateful.

Tomorrow no walking but we have a driver picking us up at 4:30 a.m. to head for the airport for our 20-hour flight home. I would rather be walking🤣

Here are the pics from today. Enjoy

Buen Camino out!!

Day 12 September 17th, 2024. Caldes de Reis, Spain to Padrón, Spain. 12.9 miles 25,900 steps

“You’re only here for a short visit.  Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way”. Walter Hagen

We now have a few people fighting off illness but we are still walking.

Today was a bit like yesterday, just shorter. Nice walking path for most of the way and Countryside and farmland. Noticed a lot more pilgrims today and then realized a lot of the people were just walking short distances that were on tour buses. Once we got to our destination, people thinned out quite a bit.

Tonight, we are in the town of Padrón which is fairly small. Our apartment is right across the street from the church, which is beautiful.

Tomorrow is our final day and is a long one of probably over 16 miles. We are bedding down early tonight so we can get an early start in the morning. Excited to get to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostella.

Day 11 September 16th, 2024. Pontevedra, Spain to Caldes de Reis, Spain. 14.5 miles 30,987 steps

“The main thing that you have to remember on this journey is, just be nice to everyone and always smile”. Ed Sheeran

Today we started out early to try and beat the heat. We left in the dark and it was quite cool, actually chilly. The path today was mostly rural with farmland, cornfields and vineyards. We had a few Hills but not as severe as the last few days and the walk was quite nice.

My brother-in-law David woke up this morning feeling a bit icky and I’m afraid I may have passed my illness on. As of this evening he is feeling a bit better (good enough for beer and ice cream), so that is good.

We sampled some of the grapes from The Vineyards along the trail and I had my first taste of octopus at a small cafe where I stopped for a beer.

Tomorrow is considered a short day as it should be only about 12 miles. We plan on a little later start around 8:00 a.m. so we can sleep in a bit.

Only 2 more days before Santiago!

Here are the pics of the day. Enjoy
