Started the day early again at 5:30 AM because the heat is killing us. We had trails and cycleways for a good part of the journey which was really nice. Once we hit Washington, DC we slowed down a bit. Didn’t have time to take in the tourist sites because we wanted to move on as the day was getting hotter by the minute. My favorite part and I think Tina’s as well was at a point where the trail was at the end of the runway for Ronald Reagan Airport. The planes happened to be using that runway when we passed so we stopped for awhile to watch as they came in for landings as they passed in close proximity overhead. I could have spent all day there. We then kept along the Potomac for the remainder of the trip until we turned slightly inland to Mount Vernon and our home for the evening. Tomorrow our map shows a lot of elevation and it is going to be hot again so our plan is to be up at 3:00 AM and on the road by 4:00 AM, so……goodnight

What an incredible adventure you are living! Mark and I look forward to reading the blog post each evening. We do miss reading about and seeing photos of your food stops…hahaha! Humidity back east is no fun! Hoping you get a cloudy day soon or some relief.

This looks like a nice ride. Too bad you didn’t have more time to look around.
