Day 12 September 17th, 2024. Caldes de Reis, Spain to Padrón, Spain. 12.9 miles 25,900 steps

“You’re only here for a short visit.  Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way”. Walter Hagen

We now have a few people fighting off illness but we are still walking.

Today was a bit like yesterday, just shorter. Nice walking path for most of the way and Countryside and farmland. Noticed a lot more pilgrims today and then realized a lot of the people were just walking short distances that were on tour buses. Once we got to our destination, people thinned out quite a bit.

Tonight, we are in the town of Padrón which is fairly small. Our apartment is right across the street from the church, which is beautiful.

Tomorrow is our final day and is a long one of probably over 16 miles. We are bedding down early tonight so we can get an early start in the morning. Excited to get to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostella.

I did some research and the full is over 500 miles starting in France. Did you only plan to do part of the route this year and the and do the other part next year from the other end. Rick Steves the travel guy had a segment on Tour you are on. If you walk 14-15 miles a day and do over 30,000 steps I can imagine blisters forming. In my prime last year I walked the circle around the Lake, including the inlets, which is about 15,000 steps. That is enough for me as I will be 87 in October. I know Tina used to walk a lot when you lived here. You and Tina should compare your daily steps walked. I bet Tina uses less steps than you because long legged sweeties generally have longer legs than you macho men. That is all for today. Keep up the emails and keep having fun. Jim

    1. Hi Jim, good to hear from you. No I don’t think we will do any more of this. On to the next thing. When we finish today I will probably post our total steps for the entire 13 days. One day I had just under 50,000 steps. That included the walk for that day and then just walking around the town once we arrived. It is currently 8:30 in the morning here and about midnight in Arizona so by the time you read this we will be finished. Should have a lot of steps today and didn’t going to be probably over 16 miles. Ciao
